Why we love this recipe

This recipe is a great case study to help you understand just how easy and versatile cooking with Take and Bake oil can be, and how to approach using cannabis oil in your own recipes.

You don’t have to be a skilled chef to get creative when making your own THC-infused meals. It’s unbelievably easy to make accurately dosed dishes that taste delicious using the tips and tricks we use in this recipe. The possibilities are endless once you learn this hack.

3 important rules when cooking with Take and Bake oil

There’s a reason why THC is added during certain steps (or with specific ingredients) in our recipes. Here’s why:

PAY ATTENTION TO TEMPERATURE

THC starts to break down at temperatures above 375 F. If you cook THC for too long at high temperatures like this, you will degrade the THC in your recipe and the potency of your dish will be affected.

Rule #1

Don’t use Take and Bake oil for sautéing, frying, boiling or baking at temperatures higher than 375 Degrees F.

ADD TO FAT WHEN POSSIBLE

THC and CBD are ‘fat-soluble’ which means they don’t dissolve in water, but they do in other fats like olive oil and butter. Dissolving THC in fat before adding it to the remaining ingredients helps to make sure the THC gets evenly distributed through the dish. It also helps with dosing accuracy.

Rule #2

Mix Take and Bake oil with fat before mixing with other ingredients when possible*.

  • Rule #1 trumps Rule #2.
  • *See our Fruit Juice Gummy recipe for an exception to this rule.

PLAN AHEAD

Know how much, or how many servings the recipe you’re making yields and do some quick math to make sure you know exactly how many milligrams of THC you’re adding to your recipe and how this will translate into each serving.

For example, if I’m making 12 cookies and I want each cookie to have 10 mg THC, I will put 120 mg of THC into the cookie batter.

Use the Dosing Guide for instructions on how to use the Patron dispenser to dispense the perfect amount of THC for your recipes.

Rule #3: Plan ahead and dose appropriately.

The possibilities are endless

In this recipe, all we’re doing is adding Take and Bake oil to olive oil and mixing thoroughly. The resulting infused olive oil can be added to salad dressings, drizzled over pizza, hummus, spaghetti, hash browns….you name it. This way of infusing your meals makes it effortlessly quick and easy to not only infuse your dish, but do so with accuracy.

Tip: This also allows you to effortlessly customize the dose (THC amount) of your servings if you’re cooking for others with varying tolerance levels.

Which Take and Bake oil type is used and why

For this recipe we’ve used Sativa Take and Bake oil since we’ll be using the infused olive oil primarily for breakfast and lunchtime dishes. The Indica take and Bake oil tends to make consumers feel sleepy and relaxed, while the Sativa generally offers more stimulating and up-lifting effects.

Use whichever Take and Bake oil you prefer based on your own intended uses and oil type preferences.

Safe storage, always.

As always, make sure your THC-infused creations are stored safely away from children and pets. You should also label the container(s) you use to store your infused olive oil so no unsuspecting friends or family members consume or cook with it unaware.

Enjoy!

This recipe can be replicated with any oil or fat you prefer. If you’re infusing solid fats like lard, butter, coconut oil or otherwise, melt the fat in the microwave first until it’s a liquid. Let it cool slightly and then add Take and Bake oil as you would with olive oil.

Enjoy and let us know how you decide to use your infused olive oil in the kitchen.
